Ursus Verses

Co-ed Acappella Group

est. 2001

Ursus Verses was founded in 2001 by a few forward-thinking Bowdoin students who recognized the need for a new co-ed a cappella group on the Bowdoin campus. They recruited other members from their ranks of friends and acquaintances, and Ursus took hold as a formally recognized group. Since 2001, however, we have grown by leaps and bounds!

We have worked hard to quickly rise up through the proverbial ranks of the collegiate a cappella by traveling and hosting invitational concerts at Bowdoin. We have sung with over twenty prestigious collegiate groups, including the Tufts Beelzebubs, the MIT Logarhythms, the Tufts Amalgamates, Brandeis VoiceMale, Boston University InAChord, the Boston College Dynamics, UNH Alabaster Blue, and the UMass Vocal Suspects, as well as the fabulous other Bowdoin groups! We recently added a new credential to our resumé: a professional-quality CD, “Reverse the Urse.” Over the coming years, we hope to continue to improve in all aspects, and are striving to continue to create a history of which we can all be proud.
