BOWDOIN TAIKO

Home Concerts

Taiko is a multicultural rhythm/dance/martial art, and as such it tends to perform at many multicultural, rhythm, dance, and martial art gigs on Bowdoin Campus.
Here is a sampling of some of those concerts, with video and photos of some performances.

Museum Steps
Historically the Walker Art Museum Steps have been the home for a spring performance of dance classes and other dance performance groups. Since its recent renovation, Taiko has been one of these groups, performing outside and proving to be the largest venue to fill with sound.
2008 - Buchi Awase
A song which pits three drummers on one drum, this is the debut of our new song brought back with Andrew from Japan.

2007 - Yodan
The reopening of Museum Pieces, and Taiko comes to premiere Yodan

ASA Fashion Show
Being on the forefront of fashion and Asian Society, Bowdoin Taiko has found itself on stage yearly at the Asian Students Association Fashion Show.
2008 - Kizashi
An old favorite brought back with its original four parts, polished extensively for the show. All members sporting bandanas in some way or another.

2007 - Hiryu
A mix of different costumes onstage and a display of the new chereography in the second verse, and the first display of an Odaiko
Dance Show
Usually near the end of the semester, the dance show is the display of Bowdoin's dance classes and dance groups, provided they pass the audition. Taiko provides its own music, and gets to perform in its most theatrical enviornment.

December 2008 - Sandstorm
An adaptation of the techno song by Darude, played in four parts and complete with a strobe light

Fall 2007 - Yodan
Polished from before, this version of Yodan encorporates most of our performing members and includes some solos.

December 2006 - Adrenaline
Composed by Doran Rivera '08, this is Bowdoin's primere performance in the dance shows to come.

Parents Weekend
Performane-based groups on campus get a chance to try out their new freshmen and maybe spread word about their club through the Parents Weekend concert. All of which of course done for the benefit of the parents of students.
