Saamelafest 2002

The 4th Annual International Festival

When: April 6, 2002. 7pm - 1am.
Where: Daggett Lounge, Throne Hall

The International Festival, Saamelafest, is an event to celebrate the diversity of Bowdoin Community. It intends to create an awareness of different ethic and cultural backgrounds of the student body and of the community and to bring students from different ethic groups and Bowdoin Community together. The festival will include cultural performances from members of the international club and other clubs, country display section (interesting stuff from around the world), international food and the International Dance Party. This event will also create a good relation and connection with students from Bates and Colby and members of the Bowdoin Host Family Program.

- Cultural Performances, a coffee house style, will include traditional dances, singing, martial art demos, instrumental performances and international poetry reading.
- Country Display Section will include Chinese Calligraphy, Japanese Origami (Japanese paper folding) demonstrations and interesting stuff from different countries.
- International Dance Party will include songs and music from different parts of the world.
- International Dessert/Food section provides with multicultural tastes and recipes of food from different cuisine.
