Why should we? House leaders complain that they do everything for nothing in return. Has anyone ever wondered why so many affiliates feel uncomfortable visiting or even unwelcome? The concept of house ownership is alive and well, but unfortunately it only extends to house residents who seem to feel that their sense of ownership is more important than us mere affiliates. I don't know that this situation is entirely the House leaders' fault, but I do know that in previous years I never felt uncomfortable visiting Howard or using their facilities.

So, how could we remedy this? I don't have a surefire solution, but perhaps quelling the arrogance of some house resident/leaders might help. You are no better than the rest of us and your "special" status in the eyes of res life does not extend to normal student life. We value kindness and intelligence more than mere power.

By the way, I used to be very involved with the house and no longer have any desire to be part of Hyde/Howard/Howell or the house system in general.
If it were possible to completely dissociate from the house system, I would. Res life unfortunately requires my implicit support of the system by making it impossible for me to opt out of the system. Oh well.
