Howell House Minutes,
Sunday 10/22/00
WarmUp
A. President's Welcome
B. Midweek Recap: Owen and Keegan did their ice cream duo and there
was pumpkin judging too
C. Animal Shelter, Stacey: No one went on Friday or Saturday, and Stacey
went alone on Sunday. They'll be going again in 2 weeks so try and tag
along sometime
D. IM Soccer Playoffs: Howell Hammerheads looked like they were down
3 to 1 for a while, then scored, then, as Owen nicely put it, "proceeded
to loose." But good job to everyone who participated, and to the Hydians
too :)
E. House Dedication: went great, with great speeches by everyone who
gave great speeches...--> The possibility of a scrapbook dedicated to Roger
Howell? Brian will be in charge of this.
F. Initiation: fun, fun! Many people signed, but there were still many
who didn't. If you live in Hyde pls come and sign it...Brian has it
The Nitty Gritty
A. Treasurer's Report, Liz: We are now at $5,867.04, minus the expenses
that went toward initiation and past midweeks.
B. Programming, Stacey: It will cost about $800 to get Michael Kelsey
to perform in the spring. We voted on whether to bring him here, and it
passed with a whopping 33 votes and 3 abstentions.
a. Brian proposed that we plan for another "Who
Wants to be a Thousandaire?" event. Last year's Thousandaire cost us about
$750 total.
b. "Singled Out" event: was a problem last year
and we wound up not doing it, but we might give it another try this year
and this time ask the other houses for support in planning the event.
c. Thinking of new ideas for more events??? Either
come to the meetings and share or pass it on to Quinn, Katie, or Stacey.
d. Brendan mentioned the poss. of forming planning
committees for events.
C. Mellon Grant: Possible speakers to invite included Rob Kean and
Kenneth Starr. Interest vote in who would be interested in putting together
the house library.
D. Howell T-Shirts: Liz brought it up to ResLife, and hasn't heard
back yet.
E. Ping-Pong table, Lauren: The one we are currently looking at is
$200. Still doing research...
F. Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Justin: Hawthorne School is currently
in the process of forming a new program, much like Bears and Cubs in which
students are coupled with kids for after-school or lunchtime periods. It
may be another 2-3 weeks, and there is more info to come.
G. The Composite, Phil: Will be looking into how we can get it done
by copy!
H. Rule Chart for House Meeting Procedures: Formal or Informal? Brian's
working on a structured procedure for voting and motions.
I. Michael Kelsey: see above

Bowdoin's largest leaf pile will be disappearing shortly due to rain, so
come by and jump and roll around in it before it's gone!!
Should we have President Edwards over at Howell for dinner?!?! Or a professor, monthly?!?!
Get Psyched for IM HOCKEY!!!
The House Historian needs a CAMERA or he can't do his job fully!!!!!!!
