Howell House Minutes, 10/14/01
Happy new moon, everybody. These are hefty notes, so bear with me.
Recaps:
-
I don't think I could say anything about last midweek that its producers
haven't already...Kudos to Stacy, Justin, Justin, and Dining Service for
a fabulous spread.
-
The second faculty/staff dinner went swimmingly- a big thanks to Jim Woolett
of Arctic Studies for coming.
-
The Counting Crows trip...got lost, but made their way there eventually.
Even Colin had fun.
Treasurer's report:
-
Our treasurer's back! Welcome back, Liz.
-
Let her know (erobinso) if you need reimbursement for anything...well,
not anything, but House-related stuff. Make sure you hang on to
the receipts.
-
We have $5162.95 in the House budget.
Upcoming/ongoing:
-
The Afro-Am cosponsored dance is on for October 20th, although the invitational
has been canceled. More on that soon.
-
Notes 'n' Folks this Thursday at 3:30- Professor Sehon of the Philosophy
department is gracing us with his presence and guitar. Refreshments provided.
-
Professor dinner with Franco. Morgan and Yarbrough Thursday at 5:30.
-
Bowling- scheduled for November 9th at 7:00. So far 24 people have signed
up. Contact Lauren (ldarniel) if you're interested.
-
Every Friday night is game night at Howell from now on- Risk, Monopoly,
Trivial Pursuit or whatever you like- starting at 9:30 and continuing until
you give up. Come over and play...
-
We've voted to donate $100 to the Quinby flag football game.
-
We're cosponsoring the talent show with Shanique; Raymond and Hai Anh have
volunteered to judge.
-
The Brazilian Ensemble will be coming to campus probably the weekend of
December 7...watch for more details.
Some people might not be aware that Hurricane Iris struck Belize last week
and has destroyed a huge part of the country, as well as leaving 8,000
of its 250,000 people homeless. Hesper's trying to get a fundraising event
together to try and help out- this is work that really needs to be done
and something we can help with. Contact her (hschleid) with support.
At the same time, Howell as a whole has virtually unlimited opportunities
to help out in the community at large. Everyone should have gotten a packet
from Lydia Bell detailing different volunteer projects, but if there's
something you want to do that isn't in there, contact our volunteer coordinator
Ali (arau) for help finding it.
As always, contact me with questions or free verse. Cheers-
Lela
