Apple picking was ...sublime. Pictures of the Hyde apple-eating contest
will surface shortly. (Ewww....)
Ongoing:
-
We're collecting money to send to the Red Cross, since that's what they
need more than anything else. Look for more emails on this, headed your
way.
-
COMMON GROUND FAIR on the 21st: leave Howell at 1:30, get back that night.
All welcome- it should be fabulous.
-
Common Good Day on Saturday- if you haven't signed up, you can contact
Lydia Bell at lbell2 and sign up that way- we still need volunteers for
all the nefarious projects they run.
-
Movie Marathon Saturday night, in Howell- hosted by Nick Troy. Bring your
favourite movies and some No-Doz for an all-night run of films on Bowdoin's
classiest TV.
-
Notes'n'Folks is running again- if you know a faculty or staff member who
has any kind of musical talent at all (kazoos, harp, ukelele) let them
know that we've got the perfect forum for their talents. We're all set
except for the music...
-
A trip across the street to the JL Chamberlain Museum is upcoming, in conjunction
with our first professorial/House dinner of the year, scheduled for Thursday
September 27th (the dinners are weekly events).
-
We'll be taking vans up to the Counting Crows concert at one of those other
colleges north of here- October 11th. Watch your email for more...emails
on this topic.
BIG NEWS
Howell's annual scavenger hunt is being rescheduled for the fall- specifically,
October 19-21. This 36-hour extravaganza involves nonstop travel and scavenging
throughout New England, and is open campus-wide to teams of four people.
Last year Howell's very own Unstoppables team won the prize- a weekend
cruise, which Todd would be happy to tell people about. :) While we'll
get some financial help from the IHC and the SAFC, the hunt will use about
$1000 of the House budget. This is going to be a fabulous event- the only
real requirements are a car (or two) and a lot more of those No-Doz tablets.
More as this draws closer.
-
Treasurer's report: After the barbecue and receiver, we have a tentative
$5631.92 in the House fund.
Okay, I think that's it. Questions? Complaints? Limericks? Let me know.
Enjoy the rest of your week-
-Lela
