Howell House Minutes, 9/2/01
Hi everybody (hi, Dr. Nick!), and thanks to everyone who came to
the meeting last night or sent reps, especially Hyde and the upperclassmen.
We covered a whole lot of ground, and as much of it is still up in the
air, today's notes are focused on the stuff that's in the works.
Recap: Last Saturday was great; the beach was cold but this is Maine,
after all; the BBQ was cold too but the food and kickball warmed it up.
Thanks to everyone who put these together, especially Reid and Colin.
Upcoming events:
-
This Midweek- Milkshake Madness, hosted by Emily and Josh. 9:00 at Howell
Wednesday night.
-
First-year scavenger hunt this Saturday at 7:00 (meet at Howell).
-
Trip to the Common Ground country fair on Friday the 21st- leave Howell
around 1:30 and get back that night. Tickets will be $8/person.
-
Common Good Day is Saturday the 22nd- I think everyone got sign-up sheets
in the mails today. A plethora of conveniently packaged volunteer activities.
-
The day after that (the 23rd)- the Blue Angels, stunt pilots extraordinaires,
are coming to the Naval Air Station. More on that soon.
-
Saturday the 29th- Apple-picking up the road, and apple-y dessert-making
to follow.
More nebulously timed activities:
-
Cosponsorship of a dance party with the Afro-Am. Probably late October,
early November.
-
Possibly related- a glowstick/chem-free rave party. October?
-
Sunset or lobster cruise out of Portland.
-
Trip to Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and/or the Counting Crows concert
at Bates.
In other news...we voted 46-2, with 6 abstentions, to spend $250 on a new
receiver for the television.
Notes 'n' Folks is starting up again- this is a program wherein we
try to get faculty and staff over to Howell to show off their musical skills.
Right now we're looking for a bagpipe player. :) Contact Ana (aconboy)
or Nick (ntroy).
