Howell House Meeting Minutes 4/29/01

I. Kevin Kendall and Ross Barton campaigns came to promote themselves
There is a debate between the two Wed at 7pm in Lancaster Lounge

II. Recaps:
-Midweek: fruit fondue (Jill), went well, even some seniors showed up
-House Dinner: Penny Martin was awesome, she read us a nice story
-Formal Dance: not a huge turnout, not a lot of non-howellites, though a
few peeps from the helm, had a RB keg, and the decorations were awesome
-Animal Shelter: good, Stacy ran it this week, with carpooling

III. Programming Chair Report (Quinn):
-Capture the Flag sunday night (already happened)
-Todd: shopping cart relays (does anyone think that these are really
going to take place? I sure don't--hehehe, sorry Todd...)
-Quad sale isn't going to happen because the Tedford shelter is doing a
similar thing, don't want to take away from their efforts
-Reception for new house leaders sometime?
-Jill: let's try to do that with the senior reception--May 9th?

IV: Treasurer's Report (Liz):
--after about $750 for the scavenger hunt and $300ish for the formal
dance, we have about $516.02 (but still have to get those exact figures)
--also Liz needs to figure out about that board game money

V. Should we have an end of the year BBQ?
--maybe on May 9th?

interjection: hey phil, what's happening with the playstation money?
--dave still needs to talk to bob, but evidently, we were supposed to
use that money in sept

VI. How should we use the rest of our money?
Ideas:
--complete the sound system: get a receiver (we are using the one from
Quinn's friend now), 2 rear speakers and maybe a sub?
--kitchen supplies (cleaning issues? maybe get them next year?)
--membership for movies for next year? (should do that in the fall?)
--wall hangings?

VII. Open Forum:
--Owen wants to have a basketball tournament and give out air jordans

--Should we endorse a candidate?
-motion for Ross, second, motion for a third party (how about owen?),
motion for no one
-vote: Ross: 9 for, 13 against
       Owen: no votes for
No one: 12 for, 8 (or 9?) against
* So, Howell House is officially endorsing no one for the election
