Howell House Meeting  3/4/01 8:00pm

1. Recaps:
--Notes N Folks went really well, the Polar Jazz Band came
--Dinner with Prof Wheelwright was a success
--Ana's BanANA Wednesdaes midweek was great, lots of peeps
--StarTrek went well
--Michael Kelsey, described as "great," incredible" (except for the hockey team incident)
2. Programming Chair Report
--HowellWood Squares (Quinn) is going well, most squares choosen, any suggestions for some interesting females?  may have found scaffolding
--After Spring Break:
    -Nerf ball fight: anyone want to take on this event?
    -Shopping cart and suitcase relays: Todd, thanks for volunteering! :-)
    -Campus wide capture the flag: Colin
    -Band and RB kegs on the quad: Margaret, Nicole
    -Scavenger Hunt: IHC says we can have it, talk to Justin W. or Brendan
3. Dollars and Cents:
    -we now have $1586.63
4. Committee Updates:
    -Formal Dance (Lynn)--still working
    -Notes N Folks (Kid): Scott Steinberg wil come this Fridays to play the piano
        -Janet Lynch playing the Irish Fiddle after break
        -we need more student performers
5. Howell Renovation Committee: we need 2 students to serve
    Nominations: Justin, Emily, Phil, Quinn, Colin L., John, Colin D.
    Elections will take place at the next house meeting
6. House Library
    --we have $300 from Melon Fund to contribute to a house library, suggestions were taken at this week's meeting at voting will occur next week
**Angus King Dinner**
--pass out paper to present members to sign up
--anyone who had e-mailed Justin prior to meeting indicating they had an unbreakable committment, such as work or chorus was also including in drawing
--> we want to get a piano for the dinner, but costs are substantial for moving and it also has to be tuned and we are paying Lou McNeil to play, which is about $500, and the food, etc for the dinner will probably cost up to $500 as well, can the house chip in some of this money to reduce melon fund costs? (the piano will also be used for Notes N Folks).
-->motion to spend $200 towards piano, 29 votes in favor, 3 opposed, 7 abstentions, motion passes.
--> Hopefully we will also have a reception afterwards
