Howell House Meeting

1. Recaps:
    --Notes 'N Folks: Kid declared it to be a "complete and utter success"
    --Scrabble: Zack took home first prize, Byron second
    --Ski trip: a few mishaps, but those who went had fun
    --Midweek: small turnout (due to frigid weather conditions??), but good smoothies
    --Prof Dinners: dinner with MacEachern went very well
    --Star Trek, and Wed Nite TV: fine
    --House Leader Apps:  Lots o' people applied, over 30 applications were turned in
2. Programming Chair Report: (Quinn, Stacy)
    --Les Mis: Quinn is still waiting to hear from Kim
    --Michael Kelsey: this Thursday!!! (March 1st), posters will go up this week
    --HowellWood Squares: Quinn is still having trouble finding scaffolding
    --Masque and Gown is having another staged reading here this sunday, Mar 4, 3pm
    --Jazz Band performing at Howell, Sat, March 3rd at 7:30pm
    --Orgo Profs: will be after spring break
    --Other things to look forward to after break:
        -relays of some sort
        -campus wide capture the flag
        -kegs on the quad
        -nerf ball fight
3. Treasurer's Report: (Liz)
    --after taking out $1000 for HW Squares and $430 for MK, plus receipts, we have $1634.35 for the rest of the year
4. Committee Reports:
    --Formal Dance: (Lynn), $310 estimate (music free, $150 food, $30 decorations, $60 virgin drinks, $20 invitations) to be held on Sat, April 7th
            --House approves $310 expenditure of event, no oppositions
            --Emily will help, if anyone else wants to help, e-mail cfurick
    --Prof Dinner: Nat Wheelwright is coming this week, catered by Scarlet Begonias
    --Notes 'N Folks:  Kid thanks to everyone who helped with this week
            --we lost Steve Naculich and Dan Levine, but we still have Janet Lynch
            --trying to get Autoban, but they want $
5. Proctorial Minute: (Justin)
    **Sign-ups for the Governor King dinner will take place at the next house meeting, March 4th at 8pm--the dinner is on Thurs, March 8th
    --if more than 40 people show up, names will be thrown in to a "hat-like device", everyone has an equal chance, preference won't be given to those who live in the house
    --hopefully, we'll have a reception open to everyone
    --any thoughts/ideas on the matter, talk to or e-mail Justin (jwatras)
6. Open Forum:
    --Colin wants to make a snowman
    --Brian noted that the Melon Fund allocated $300 for a house library
        -what happened to that committee?
        -more books/paperback or less books/hardcover?--want to last, get hardcover
        -how to decide on books? house leader favorites, suggeestions....
        **We will solict ideas at the next meeting, everyone who is there can suggest their favorite book and a list will be compiled for the following meeting, everyone can vote for three, we'll buy the ones with the most votes until the money is spent.
    --Brian needs someone to take his spot on the Quinby committee-->Keegan
    --Ana is doing this week's midweek
    --Jeremy says Evergreens is doing an audit on heating and recycling and would like a member of Howell to come to the meeting at 8pm monday-->Jill
    --Ed is showing "The Kingdom" for bad movie night this week, it's supposedly "like ER on acid" (whatever that means...)
