Mission - We hope to have fun and enjoy
the chance to get to know members of the Brunswick community.
We work to promote a sense of pride in Special Friends'
volunteers and participants by taking advantage of different
opportunities in and around Bowdoin's campus. In addition,
students can learn how to interact with people who have
various mental and physical disabilities and We work to
promote a sense of pride in Special Friends' volunteers
and participants how to get a feel for when they need assistance
and when they do not.
Volunteer Experience - One
or two Bowdoin students are usually paired with one program
participant, and they spend the hour working together through
the activity. Every other weekend, we meet
for 1 to 3 hours to participate in activities like bowling,
apple-picking, arts and crafts, gym games, movies, pumpkin
picking, and museum visits.
Membership - About 15 active members.
History - Special Friends has been running
for over a decade. Participants who live at Freeport Town
Square named the campus organization.
