Midcoast Hospital Volunteer Program - Volunteers at Midcoast Hospital help to support the hospital's mission of providing "modern, compassionate healthcare close to home" by assisting in numerous departments and patient care areas within the hospital.

Mission - The mission of the Volunteer Services Department of Mid Coast Hospital is to enhance the delivery of "modern, compassionate, value-driven healthcare for our community" by providing services to our patients, supporting their families and supplementing the staff and employees.

Volunteer Experience - Volunteers work at the hospital regularly according to their own schedule in any one of the many hospital departments. Volunteers have the opportunity to work closely with patients and hospital staff in areas such as ambulatory care, women's health, emergency, intensive care, and med-surg units. Volunteers also help with general hospital services such as working at the café or gift shop, or assisting patients at the information desk. Transport teams help patients navigate the hospital both inside and out.

During the 2005/2004 school year, Bowdoin volunteers contributed over 1034 hours of their time to the Mid Coast Hospital volunteer program.

Membership - Each semester, approximately 30 Bowdoin students volunteer at Midcoast Hospital
