Mission - Circle K International is an
organization for college and university students who are
responsible citizens and leaders with a lifelong commitment
to community service. Current membership is 12,288 college
students on 507 campuses in 13 nations in North and South
America, the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, and West Africa.
It is one of Kiwanis International’s sponsored youth
programs, along with Key Club (high school), Builders Club
(jr. high), K-Kids (elementary) and Aktion Club (mentally
challenged).
Volunteer Experience
Travel: Members are often given the chance to travel to
other clubs or conventions throughout the US at a reduced
cost or no cost at all.
Scholarships: Every year thousands of dollars are awarded
to active members of CKI.
Leadership Training: Training is provided at many levels:
through seminars, conventions, and at Bowdoin.
Career Networking: Make connections with professionals in
Kiwanis to gain contacts and support.
Personal Development: socials, parties, food, and fun: CKI
knows how to have a good time.

Pirate Party at Maine Maritime Museum – face painting,
crafts, and games
Decorating for the Brunswick Rec Center Halloween Party
Volunteering at the Brunswick Rec Center Halloween Party –
judging, handing out goody bags, clean-up
Monthly birthday parties for residents of Sunnybrook Villages
(an assisted living facility on Bath Road for elderly people)
Free Kisses for Bowdoin students
Winter Celebration at Wolfe’s Neck Farm – making
ornaments with children and their families
Brunswick’s Home for the Holidays – ran ornament-making
table at Clay Play during the festivities
Salvation Army’s Sponsor a Family
Shoe Box Drive – to collect toiletries for victims of
domestic violence
BELTS project in the elementary schools – seat belt
safety program for second graders
Bags for Gambia – we’re in the process of collecting
bags for women in Gambia to use to make purses, etc. which
they sell for their own profit
Soda Tabs for Ronald MacDonald House – we’re in
the process of collecting these

16th floor of Coles Tower
History
Bowdoin's chapter of Circle K was chartered in November
of 2004 under the sponsorship of Brunswick Kiwanis Club. It
has been off to a running start, sending members to divisional
and district events and participating in community projects.
There are 20 active members but over 100 email list members.
New members are always welcome. Attendance at meetings is
not required for participating in events. Members sign up
at events on their own convenience.
