  • Aerobics

    This would be an aerobic exercise club to promote health and fitness. We would hire an aerobics teacher to teach the class twice a week. We think that this class would benefit the entire Bowdoin community by providing an opportunity for people to exercise together in a class setting, something which we believe Bowdoin is now lacking. Thanks!

  • Africa Alliance

    The goal of the Africa Alliance is to promote and encourage cultural and intellectual education about Africa at Bowdoin and the surrounding community as well as providing academic and social services and activities that aim at creating awareness about the ever-changing intellectual and cultural world we live in. The Africa Alliance also aims to promote African Unity by collaborating with organizations with similar goals.

  • African-American Society

    The goal of the African-American Society is to support all of its members academically and socially in order to help them reach the highest levels of achievement on campus. We strive to be a strong-knit, inclusive community. Through dialogue and programming we also work to enrich and inform the campus about issues that affect minorities, particularly African-Americans and blacks.

  • Alpine Ski Club

    Bowdoin College has a rich tradition of alpine skiing as both a varsity - and currently - as a club team. The Alpine Ski Club is dedicated to helping recreational and competitive skiers achieve their potential. The team hits the slopes as soon as the snow hits the ground in Maine.

  • Americans for Informed Democracy (AID)

    Americans for Informed Democracy (AID) is a non-partisan political organization dedicated to bringing experts on various issues to engage in a meaningful discussion. Our goal is to better inform the campus community by bringing two speakers with differing opinions on a certain issue to campus to engage in debate.

  • Amnesty International

    Amnesty International is a worldwide organization against human rights offenses. The Bowdoin Amnesty International Chapter raises awareness on campus about human rights issues and holds letter writing campaigns to help free political prisoners and end human rights abuses. Bowdoin Amnesty International brings speakers to campus and holds and participates in conferences.

  • Anohka

    Vanakkam, Namaste, Balle Balle! Anokha is Bowdoin College's South Asian Association. Our mission is to share the vibrant culture of South Asia with the Bowdoin campus and Brunswick community through the celebration of traditional festivals, dance, and educational events.

  • Arabesque

    Arabesque is Bowdoin's student-led Ballet Club. The members of this group choreograph and perform dances twice a semester. The club also organizes weekly ballet classes taught by a New York City-trained teacher, open to all dancers on campus.

  • Arabic Club

    Arabic Club is composed of students interested in exploring the Arabic-speaking world through cultural events, film screenings, discussion panels and guest lectures. Though it began as an attempt to provide language instruction through student-led classes, it now has a less of a language component, but will coordinate a weekly language table with the official class.

  • Art Union

    The Bowdoin Art Union attempts to engage all interested in large artistic projects of various natures. No artistic ability is necessary, only the desire to create. Goals include entire student body engagement.

  • Asian Student Association (ASA)

    The objective of the Asian Students Association is to establish a relationship among students interested in Asian cultures and to bring multicultural awareness of these cultures to Bowdoin and the greater Brunswick communities. Biweekly meetings give students the opportunity to participate in East- and Southeast- Asian cultural activities. Campus wide events are to promote multicultural awareness and to further diversity recruiting.

  • Baking Club

    The Baking Club is designed to teach students with all levels of experience how to bake anything from simple recipes such as cookies to more complex recipes such as cheesecake and tiramisu. There are several possibilities which include baking for charity, experimental baking, interactive baking sessions run by a professional baker, testing new recipes for Bowdoin, and field trips to large-scale bakeries. Baking sessions are all inclusive with hopes of creating a fun, creative and mouthwatering environment.

  • Bellamafia

    Bellamafia is a all female a cappella group created in 2005. Comprised of roughly 15 girls Bellamafia sings all types of music and performs with the other groups on campus several times a year.

  • Bodyspeak

    Through support, education, and advocacy, Bodyspeak seeks to increase greater awareness about issues of body image at Bowdoin. Additionally, the members of Bodyspeak encourage healthy eating and exercising as well as the use of campus resources, demonstrating to the community that there is support and understanding for these challenges at Bowdoin. Finally, we work to foster an environment in which members of the community can develop individual standards of wellness, as well as help promote positive body image through honest dialogue and communication, enlightened practices and policies, and education and outreach on campus and beyond.

  • BOKA

    BOKA is the oldest coed a cappella group on campus. We sing a range of music, from pop to rock to tv theme songs. We perform at events both on and off campus.

  • Bowdoin Anime Club

    In the Bowdoin Anime Club we appreciate the internationally popular form of entertainment known as Japanese animation, or anime for short.

  • Bowdoin Cable Network

    The Bowdoin Cable Network (BCN) is a closed-circuit television station accessible to the Bowdoin campus. BCN facilitates student interest in all aspects of video media, filmmaking, and technology.

  • Bowdoin Christian Fellowship

    The Bowdoin Christian Fellowship (BCF) under the advisory of InterVarsity, an evangelical campus missions organzaiton, provides support for Christians and organizes faith-based discussions, outreach, and community service events.

  • Bowdoin College Democrats

    The Bowdoin College Democrats are active on campus and in the community in raising awareness about issues, in encouraging political participation, and in raising the level of discourse. We host speakers, organize get out the vote drives, and provide opportunities for students to become active in politics.

  • Bowdoin College Finance Society

    The Bowdoin College Finance Society’s paramount goal is to cultivate and promote an informed financial dialogue among students and an active curiosity about financial markets. The society aims to provide members with the opportunity and resources to learn through speakers, events and workshops. Polar Bear Capital Management, a component of the BCFS, offers members an outlet for employing what they have learned and forum in which to debate their investment ideas.

  • Bowdoin College Recording Studio

    The Bowdoin College Recording Studio represents a diverse musical interest reflecting a diverse student body. Within various musical genres, many talented students get together to create and record different musical masterpieces.

  • Bowdoin College Republicans

    The Bowdoin College Republicans aim to promote conservative values on campus.

  • Bowdoin Communal Bike Program

    This club is open to all members of the Bowdoin community, and membership entitles you to the use of any designated Yellow Bike on campus for transportation around the Bowdoin campus and the greater Brunswick area. Our goal in creating this club is to decrease short-term driving by students and staff, alleviate parking congestion, improve air quality, and establish the importance of sustainable, communal transportation.

  • Bowdoin Film Group (BFG)

    To provide all Bowdoin students and organizations the opportunity to create documentary or narrative films.

  • Bowdoin Film Society

    The Film Society provides the campus with a wide variety of movies everyweekend. The Film Society has also recently aided the Bowdoin College's student-made film festival in addition to our weekly movies and evening star rentals. The Film Society also strives to provide student with an outlet for film making and made a number of short films together as a group.

  • Bowdoin Libertarians

    Libertarians believe the answer to America's political problems is the same commitment to freedom that earned America its greatness: a free-market economy; a dedication to civil liberties and personal freedom; and a foreign policy of non-intervention, peace, and free trade as prescribed by America's founders. Libertarians aim at espousing these ideals in order to help defeat the tyranny of special interets. Their message is sorely needed at Bowdoin, whose campus political discourse is dominated by the Left- and Right-styled socialism and imperialism of the Democrats and Republicans.

  • Bowdoin Men Against Sexual Violence (BMASV)

    Bowdoin Men Against Sexual Violence is dedicated to preventing rape and sexual assault on campus by examining sexual violence from a men's perspective.

  • Bowdoin Orient

    The Bowdoin Orient is a student-run weekly publication dedicated to providing news and information relevant to the College community. Editorially independent of the College and its administrators, the Orient pursues such content freely and thoroughly, following professional journalistic standards in writing and reporting. The Orient is committed to serving as an open forum for thoughtful and diverse discussion and debate on issues of interest to the College community.

  • Bowdoin Outing Club

    The Bowdoin Outing Club (BOC) is a great way to get outside and enjoy Maine! We send out a wide variety of trips each weekend--with trips like canoeing, sea kayaking, hiking, apple picking, whitewater rafting, telemark skiing, winter camping, or a stay at our cabin in Monson, ME (to name a few), there's something for everyone. Trips are lead by trained student leaders, and are open to all club members.

  • Bowdoin Queer Straight Alliance (BQSA)

    BQSA provides a safe and supportive club for LGBTQ students and their allies. Our activities range from social gatherings, to awareness and activist events depending on member interest.

  • Bowdoin RoboCup

    Bowdoin RoboCup gives all students the oppurtunity to participate in an international robotics competition. This organization currently competes under the name 'Northern Bites', and has existed as a group of students interested in robotics and computer science since Fall 2004. Our goals are to engage in innovative research, learn about robotic platforms and technology, and compete in national and international Robocup events. Since 2004, our primary goal is has been to take a very powerful programming platform--a Sony Aibo (a robotic dog)--and give it all the capabilities to play soccer autonomously. Bowdoin RoboCup gives students, faculty, and the community a real tangible and exciting look into the computer sciences and cutting-edge technology.

  • Bowdoin Shooting Club

    The Bowdoin Shooting club is a club to help educate students in the safe use of firearms. A few of the students will be competing in regional shooting matches with other schools. All students are welcome to join even if you have never picked up a firearm.

  • Bowdoin Student Government

    The Bowdoin Student Government represents the Student Body to the administration and the community.

  • Bowdoin Student Writing Workshop

    The Bowdoin Student Writing Workshop is a venue in which regular attendees can critique and discuss both original and published work on a weekly basis. Meetings are conducted by students and are geared toward facilitating the mutual improvement of group members writing. We accept submissions in all genres, but the workshop is not intended as an aid for coursework.

  • Bowdoin Students Embracing Disabilities (BSED)

    Bowdoin Students Embracing Disabilities is a group that hopes to provide support, education, and activism for and about all disabilities: physical, mental, and educational. The group meets for casual dinners on Wednesdays at 6 in the Moulton Union staff dining room and discusses issues, events, retreats, and whatever else may be going on.

  • Bowdoin Students for Peace

    Bowdoin Students for Peace is a group of students united in our opposition to unjust armed conflict around the world, in our dedication to promoting nonviolent means of conflict resolution on all levels, and in our commitment to work together on peace efforts both worldwide and within our community.

  • Bowdoin Women in Business (BWIB)

    We are a club seeking to increase career, networking and mentoring opportunities for Bowdoin students. Whether you're a senior looking for your first job or a first year with no idea of what you want to do, we want to join together and find jobs/internships that we'll be excited about!

  • Bowdoin Women's Association (BWA)

    The purpose of this organization is to (1) promote awareness and education about gender issues in our community through coalition building and BWA programs which include speakers, performance artists, and other events; (2) to provide a safe, comfortable environment to create dialogue about gender issues and build community through awareness among faculty, staff, and students of Bowdoin College; and (3) to be active by identifying and addressing issues of gender in our community in order to make Bowdoin a healthy and supportive environment for all of its members. BWA provides a welcoming space where individuals can come together in community and find supportive, open minds dedicated to and passionate about issues of gender on campus.

  • Bugle (Yearbook)
  • Campus Activities Board

    The purpose of the organization is to provide a variety of events for students to attend during the course of the school year. The types of events range from concerts, comedy, performing arts, to novelty events like the annual foam dance.

  • Capoeira Club

    Capoeira is a Brazilian fusion of dance and martial arts whose practice incorportates aspects of self-defense taught in the fluid motion of dance and music. Our group will meet twice weekely to practice Capoeira and learn the different physical moves as well as the history of Capoeira in Brazil and its music and instruments. Practice is physically demanding and also includes singing and playing instruments.

  • Catholic Students Union

    The Catholic Students Union is about sharing our college and faith experience as brothers and sisters in Christ. We are a student faith organization that gathers to worship, learn, and serve.

  • Chaos Theory (Women's Ultimate Frisbee)

    Chaos Theory is a competitive women's club ultimate frisbee team which challenges teams throughout New England in a variety of tournaments. Participation stretches across both the fall and spring seasons. Student led, Boasting a thirty woman roster, Chaos Theory has grown impressively in five years both in size and athletic ability.

  • Cheerleading Squad

    We are a cheerleading squad that is planning to begin competitions in 2007, while also having a non-competitive squad for members that do not have previous experience. We cheer at football and basketball games. We also go to other sporting events and provide spirit for Bowdoin teams.

  • Circolo Italiano

    Circolo Italiano is a group open to all that provides/hosts activities, events, movie viewings, and social functions/outings surrounding Italian culture, history, and language. Additionally, the group looks to promote or co-sponsor speakers, events, presentations, and programming that benefits the said mission of the group.

  • Community Service Council

    The Community Service Council oversees the service organizations on campus, helping to coordinate volunteers and keep track of budgets.

  • Craft Center

    The Craft Center offers facilities for non-academic student work in the areas of ceramics, glass-working, textiles, photography, and other mixed media. Student members have 24/7 access, and non-members are invited to participate in classes taught throughout the year.

  • Crew/Rowing

    Bowdoin Rowing is a coed club providing students with the opportunity to pursue the sport of crew in a fun, competitive environment. The team practices on the New Meadows River and competes at regional regattas in both the fall and spring seasons.

  • Cycling Club

    The Cycling Club serves has two main goals. The first is to create a group of riders who can ride together, exchange information about routes, bike maintenance, and rides and races in the greater cycling community. The second is that we are a member of the Eastern Collegiate Cycling Conference which organizes a number of races around the Northeast in the disciplines of mountain bike, cyclocross, and road bike racing.

  • Debate Team

    The Bowdoin Debate team practices Parliamentary style debating on the APDA circuit of college debating teams. We meet weekly to create cases and practice rounds of debate, and typically attend four to five debate tournaments per semester. Our goals include improving public speaking and rhetoric skills, and strengthening logical reasoning abilities.

  • Democratic Left

    The Democratic Left is a Progressive, Leftist Activist group that focuses on direct action and specific issues relating to economic inequality and socio-environmental injustice, including Anti-Sweatshop Campaigns, Fair Trade activism, and other community organizing. Whether you are a Socialist, Anarchist, Moderate, Radical, Democrat, Independent, Green Party-- it does not matter. We are united in our mission to promote workers' rights and combat unjust inequality wherever possible.

  • Equestrian Team

    The Bowdoin Equestrian Team consists of a group of riders who compete in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA). Horse shows are held 6-10 times a year at various college stables. The host college provides the horses, so only students are required to be at the shows.

  • Fencing Club

    Fencing club for experienced fencers and beginners, for those who enjoy the sport of fencing and/or want to learn how. We hold regular team practices and are moving towards inter-collegiate as well as USFA competition.

  • Forum

    The Bowdoin Forum is a student-run international affairs journal that publishes student, as well as, alumni articles.

  • Gymcrafitics

    Gymcraftics uses cooperation, balance and strength to create a variety of coordinated movements. Gymcraftics not only builds core body strength but also allows for creative choreographing. Gymcraftics is for anyone looking for an athletic challenge.

  • Hillel

    Bowdoin Hillel is both a religious and social organization that serves as a source of Jewish life, community, culture, and tradition to students, faculty, staff, and members of the MidCoast Maine community. The Hillel offers a wide-ranging schedule of Jewish activities on an otherwise very hectic and secular campus. This includes an extensive Rabbi-led service schedule for the High Holidays on campus (Reform), Shabbat dinners, Sukkah building, club-wide Chinese-food buffet dinners, holiday parties, Jewish movie nights, speakers, and many other events.

  • Hockey (Men)

    Bowdoin Men's club hockey is for students who find IM hockey unsatisfying but aren't interested/able to play Varsity. We seek to have a serious and competitive program while remaining inclusive. We encompass a broad range of skill and experience.

  • Hockey (Women)

    We are hoping to start a Womens Club Hockey team, open to all levels of experience. This club would provide an opportunity to girls who had played in high school to continue to play at a less competitive level, and for girls who want to learn the sport to do so in a fun, relaxed, atmosphere.

  • Improvabilities

    The Improvabilites is the oldest and only improvisational comedy group on campus. Our Mission: to bring joy and hilariation to the Bowdoin community three to five times a semester by means of performance. Auditions held every September.

  • International Club

    International Club plans events and programs that support the international student community as well as serve to educate the broader Bowdoin community.

  • INTERSECTION

    INTERSECTION is a cultural dance group which seeks to unite the Bowdoin campus/student body through a common appreciation for music and movement from around the world. Special emphasis is placed on diasporic dances. The group both celebrates Bowdoin's diversity and pushes students to interact outside of their normal comfort zones.

  • Korean American Students' Association (KASA)

    The Korean American Student's Association is committed to promoting cultural awareness and understanding on Bowdoin campus. KASA aims to reach its goal through the various political, social and cultural events held throughout the year.

  • La Famille Francophone

    The goal of La Famille Francophone (the French Club) is to practice and learn conversational French through games, movies, sports, and food. We hope to immerse ourselves and the larger campus community in French culture, to better understand the French and ourselves. We also hope that this will be an outlet for students to share their varied experiences in francophone countries.

  • Lacrosse

    We are a competitive club team that plays other club lacrosse teams throughout New England. We are members of the North East Collegiate Lacrosse League. We welcome anyone with any lacrosse experience at all.

  • Latin American Student Organization (LASO)

    The Latin American Student Organization is a cultural group whose focus is to spread cultural awareness, provide a home away from home for students, and be an academic support system.

  • Masque & Gown

    Masque & Gown is Bowdoin's only student theater organization, dedicated to providing opportunities in theater that would otherwise not be available on campus. We put up two full-length productions a year, as well as an annual One-Act Festival and other shows, all completely student-run. We also have a commitment to producing student-written work.

  • Meddiebempsters

    The Bowdoin College Meddiebempsters pride themselves on a long tradition of a cappella singing that dates back to 1937. The group sings a repertoire that ranges from classic barbershop quartet standards to modern pop and rock tunes. The Meddies perform for school events, local organizations, charity, private events and do annual winter tours that have taken them to California, South Korea, and beyond.

  • Meditation Club

    Provides meditation instruction twice a week. Brings in speakers or holistic professionals.

  • Middle Eastern Belly Dance Ensemble

    The Belly Dancing Club has shared the art of Middle Eastern dance ("raqs sharqi") with the Bowdoin community since 2005. Club members attend weekly classes with Jamileh Jeanne Handy, a renowned dancer and teacher who is based in Portland. The club performs regularly with the Bowdoin Middle Eastern Music Ensemble and supports charity organizations by dancing in benefit shows throughout Maine.

  • Miscellania

    Miscellania is Bowdoin's oldest all-female a cappella group.

  • Model United Nations

    Model United Nations is an organization committed to peace and diplomacy. The club will examine how the United Nations function and why is it an important international organization. All experience levels welcomed.

  • Native American Student Association (NASA)

    It is the mission of NASA to create and maintain a supportive environment for Native American students and to increase awareness of Native American cultures on campus and within the community through a collaboration of Native American and non-Native American students.

    NASA strives to develop a supportive space for the unique struggles faced by Native American peoples in order to help improve academic success and individual growth of these students.

    NASA also believes at that it is essential to foster a community of learning and growth with people from all backgrounds; inclusiveness is central to our mission.

  • Obvious

    Obvious is a hip hop dance performance group geared towards anyone who wants to learn to dance.

  • Organic Garden Club

    The Bowdoin Organic Garden club works to produce vegetables, fruits, flowers and herbs for use in the campus dining halls. Club members participate in everything from planning, seed buying and planting to weeding, harvesting and delivering produce. The club exists for anyone who is interested in and wants to learn about farming, or who just likes to be outside getting dirty.

  • Poeting

    Poeting is a spoken word group on campus that specializes in performance poetry.Workshop based meetings help develop writing and performance techniques. Meetings are laid back with encouraged peer sharing.

  • Polar Bear Nation

    Polar Bear Nation is a student-organized club designed to promote and stimulate school spirit at Bowdoin sporting events. In the past, Polar Bear Nation has primarily placed its emphasis on men's and women's basketball home games. It is the goal of the club, however, to build from this foundation, and spread enthusiasm and pride for the college to all sports on campus. Polar Bear Nation will not only bring faculty, students, and fans together, but will help build a lasting tradition of spirit and support on campus.

  • Polar Bear Swing

    Polar Bear Swing aims to bring Swing dance to Bowdoin College and the Brunswick community. We provide lessons in East Coast Swing and Lindy Hop, organize trips to local dances, and sponsor on-campus events for dancers and novices.

  • Polar Pep Band

    The Polar Pep Band is a student-run music group designed to work together with the Polar Bear Nation at basketball games and hockey games to stimulate school spirit. We will attend select home games (i.e. key NESCAC match-ups, rivalries, and playoffs) and will play the national anthem at the start of games, a rendition of Raise Songs to Bowdoin, and a collection fight songs and popular “stadium” music. We will also help to lead cheers in support of our beloved UBears.

  • Random Acts of Kindness, Etc. (RAKE)

    RAKE [Random Acts of Kindness, Etc.] is committed to harnessing the simple power of kindness and its ability to create a positive change anywhere it is applied. By encouraging the meeting of new people, showing respect for others and making peoples' days through simple acts of kindness, RAKE is able to reach out and include everyone and inspire people to 'be the change they wish to see in the world.'

  • Rock Climbing Club

    The Rock Climbing Club executes biweekly trips to the Maine Rock Gym in Portland. We rent Bowdoin vans and leave at faily consistent times every week.

  • Rugby

    Bowdoin Men's Rugby is a competitive rugby club competing in New England Rugby Union's Division II. We welcome all level of experience with the sport, and thrive on educating players new to the game. Rugby is truly a sport for all shapes and sizes, and we encourage anyone and everyone to come out to play!

  • Safe Space

    Safe Space is a campus organization dedicated to the support of survivors of sexual violence, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, incest, child sexual abuse, and rape. Safe Space offers survivors an opportunity to share their experiences in a confidential and supportive atmosphere. We also offer continued support throughout the healing process. Members of Safe Space are trained by professional counselors from Sexual Assault Support Services of Midcoast Maine (SASSMM). Members can be reached through campus mail, e-mail, or via telephone to answer questions and to provide support to survivors, their family, friends, and anyone else affected by sexual violence.

  • Scuba Diving Club

    The Scuba Club seeks to make scuba diving accessible and affordable to Bowdoin students by allowing them to try scuba diving in a pool for a discounted price.

  • Society of Physics Students

    In addition to bringing interesting physicists to lecture for our brown-bag lunch sessions, SPS organizes social events for physics students and faculty members, such as Physics Bowling Night, Physics Ballroom Dancing Night, and Bad Physics Movie Night, and the annual SPS ice cream social.

  • Steel Drum Band

    The Steel Drum Club will provide an opportunity for students of all musical levels to participate in a fun, exciting, Caribbean style drumming experience. professionals will come in and play, as well as give hands-on lessons on how to play the steel drums. performances will also be given at various points throughout the year to show the school how we can have tropical fun in Maine!

  • Stoned Clown (Men's Ultimate Frisbee)

    The men's ultimate frisbee team competes in tournaments across New England in the fall club season and the spring college season.

  • Student Global AIDS Campaign

    The Student Global AIDS Campaign (SGAC) is a national movement with more than 85 chapters at high schools, colleges, and universities across the United States committed to bringing an end to HIV and AIDS in the U.S. and around the world through education, informed advocacy, media work, and direct action.

  • Taekwondo Club

    The Bowdoin Taekwondo club meets to learn and apply "the art of the hand and foot" in a congenial peer setting.

  • Taiko Club

    The taiko club is Bowdoin's one and only Japanese drumming group. Taiko combines powerful rhythms with movements stemming from dance, martial arts and anything else group members bring. Material played comes from traditional Japanese pieces learned by members in Japan, pieces learned from other U.S. groups, and pieces created by group members.

  • The Dr. Nathan Smith Pre-Health Society

    Our mission is to bring together students who have an interest in pursing careers in health fields (ranging from allopathic medicine to dentistry to public health policy). We provide advising for pre-health students and sponsor social events to discuss current issues in the world of healthcare. In addition, we provide support to the community for variety of health issues.

  • The Evergreens

    The Evergreens is an organization that works to promote awareness of local and national environmental issues among the campus and greater Bowdoin community.

  • The Knitting Club

    The Knitting Club is an organization for anyone who would like to partake in the fun and enjoyable craft of knitting. We welcome all levels of knitters, whether beginner or advanced, and hope to provide a fun and welcoming environment for Bowdoin's knitting community. Patterns, needles, and yarn are provided for members.

  • The Longfellows

    The Longfellows is a traditional close harmony a cappella group performing a broad range of musical styles including jazz and rock standards, traditional ballads, and contemporary popular music. In the spirit of the Common Good, the Longfellows regard “art an intimate friend” and are devoted to spreading their camaraderie, distinctive showmanship and musical excellence throughout the college and beyond.   • The Peucinian Society

    We host bi-weekly disputations that are both related to culture, political thought and statesmanship. Our topics encourage articulation and exploration of the Authorities that elucidate Right, the Goals that unify education, and the Sources that inspire Virtue. The Society maintains an environment that nourishes utmost respect, enables lasting friendships, and celebrates free inquiry.

  • The Quill

    The Quill is Bowdoin's literary and art magazine. It has been in publication since 1897. We hold several events and publish literary pamphlets throughout the year, but collect the best work in our annual magazine. The Quill's commission is to provide a literary and artistic community that promotes and showcases the creative endeavors of the Bowdoin campus.

  • United Martial Arts Club

    The U.M.A.C is a Martial Arts program structured around Kenpo, Jujitsu, escrima (stick fighting), and advanced weaponry. The club meets 2-4 times a week. It is welcome to all members of the Bowdoin and Brunswick community.

  • Unity Step Team

    The mission of the Bowdoin UNITY Step team is to build new bonds, enable togetherness, and teach a fun activity to all of those involved through following the motto, "Knowledge, Power, Respect, Love." Step is a dance form, created in Africa, which involves using your body to make the percussive music you move to. In addition, the team serves the Bowdoin and greater Brunswick communities by performing on campus.

  • Ursus Verses

    We're one of the co-ed Acappella groups here on campus. We sing contempoary pop songs and occasionally some hits from the 70s and 80s.

  • V-Day

    This organization is dedicated to raising awareness and prevention of sexual violence against women and girls, at Bowdoin College and Worldwide.

  • VAGUE

    VAGUE is the only jazz/hip-hop student led dance organization on campus. The group is comprised of experienced dancers who meet twice a week and perform several times a semester.

  • Volleyball (Men)

    The Bowdoin Men's Volleyball team competes with teams ranging in skill level from club to D1 all throughout New England, and is a member of the competitive New England Collegiate Volleyball League, whose season runs November till April. The team welcomes any who wish to play--previous experience is not required, though players are expected to strive to get better in strategy, fundamentals, and all-around play as the season progresses. Players are expected to be at practice, to come with a good attitude, to be open to suggestions regarding their performances, and to be willing to work to get better.

  • Waterpolo (Women)

    The women's water polo team, or the Bowdoin Polo Bears, is an increasingly competitive club sport with tournaments around New England. Our season takes place in the spring and we welcome women who want to learn, compete and make great friends.

  • WBOR 91.1 FM

    WBOR is Bowdoin's own independent and commercial free radio station. We provide facilities that allow indiviiduals to explore new music, voice their opinions, and interact with the greater Brunswick community.

  • Yoga Club

    Our organization arranges for yoga classes, taught by Lucretia Woodruff, on a weekly basis for students, as well as a few faculty and staff. This space and practice provides its students with a host of benefits, including relaxation, self-discovery, meditation, improved physical health, and grounding.
