New Charter Process

The SOOC does not consider new charters after Spring Break. Any new charters will be considered next fall.

There are seven easy steps to starting an organization and creating a new charter:

  1. Review the new charter guidelines
Download this PDF and make sure your clubs mission will adhere to all of the state requirements.
  2. Find interested people
Develop a roster of interested students and include their email aliases and class years.
  3. Find an advisor
Select a potential faculty/staff advisor for your organization who truly cares about the goals/aims of the group. An advisor may be excused by the SOOC on a case-by-case basis.
  4. Outline a tentative budget
If your club will need funds, prepare expected weekly, monthly, or semesterly expenditures that will be requested from the SAFC.
  5. Create a proposal
In 1 - 2 pages include your mission statement, your plan of action, and your leadership structure. Include your roster with this document.
  6. Place a request for a new charter
After completing the online form here, the SOOC Chair will arrange a meeting with you and the rest of the SOOC regarding your proposal.
