Welcome to the homepage of the Bowdoin Animation Society, Brunswick's place for anime fans! The BAS is a fairly young club here at Bowdoin, but we have taken it upon ourselves to create someplace that will fulfill all the expectations one would have for a typical anime club. From weekly showings, a growing library that is free to student members, and even organized convention trips, we have everything an anime fan could need. Since the club is still young, it is ever changing and expanding. Feel free to check us out, whether you are a long time anime fan, or just someone who is curious as to what we are all about. We are always glad to have new people and new voices. Come on by and get a taste of the Bowdoin anime experience!

9/16/04: Finally, we are back where we belong, Searles 315. We'll be doing showings there again, starting this Thursday and Friday. For those not familiar with the room, here are some directions. As for what exactly we'll be watching, check out the Schedule page for more information. Here's a quick overview, though. At 8 on Thursday, we'll be watching Monster, a gripping drama about a surgeon and the dark secrets into which his work draws him. At 9, we'll see Neon Genesis Evangelion: ReDeath, a rather insane fan-dub of everyone's favorite already-insane anime. On friday, both blocks will be filled with all four episode of the Alien 9 OVA. Imagine Cardcaptor Sakura as interpreted by Hideaki Anno: despite its looks this series is a surreal, original and intense take on adolescence and growing up. We hope to see you here!

9/8/2004: This is the situation: apparently, Searles suffered an accident recently which seriously screwed up its electronics. How soon they will be up is unknown, but it will not be for this week. While Searles 315 is still the usual place for showings, this week the showings will be in the Beam classroom in the VA building; that is on the ground floor, on the left side of the building when facing it from the quad. This week, we will be having a showcase of various new anime; our regular schedule will not begin until we have had a chance to talk to you and see what you guys are interested in. So be sure to come by this Thursday for the beginning of the BAS year!

9/5/2004: This Tuesday will be the activities fair, and BAS will be there. Swing by to sign up, or just to get a look at what we are and what we do.Also, due to some damage in Searles (we are not quite sure on the details) the kick-off showings this week will have to be somewhere else. We do have Searles 315 reserved for the semester, though, so that will be our usual base of operations. We have not yet decided what to show this week, so keep an eye on the schedule page for updates.
